“A Clinic That Has Truly Changed My Life I should have written this review for the Gilbert clinic a long time ago. My first appointment with this practice was October 24, 2023, during a particularly vulnerable period of my life. I was in the middle of my breathwork apprenticeship and had reached a module addressing childhood trauma, specifically childhood sexual trauma. It affected me deeply enough that I knew I needed to pause my training and ask for help. Before beginning treatment, I spoke with Dr. Wong by phone. I still remember that conversation because I felt as though I was speaking with someone who genuinely cared. I did not feel judged or dismissed. I felt heard. My scheduled doctor was sick on the day of my first treatment, so I traveled to the Scottsdale clinic and was treated by Dr. Sharma. Even with that unexpected change, I was treated with the utmost dignity, compassion, and respect. Dr. Sharma was incredibly kind. I did not need someone to fix me. I needed to feel safe enough to receive help, and that was what I experienced. I completed six ketamine treatments over three weeks, working with Dr. Wong, Dr. Sharma, and Dr. Leathem. Each brought their own nurturing presence to my care, but there was a consistency among them I will never forget: I felt genuinely cared for. That extended beyond the physicians. From the front office to the nurses and medical team, I was treated with compassion, dignity, and kindness. I never felt like a number. The initial treatment helped me begin changing my relationship with experiences that had carried enormous emotional weight in my life. It did not erase my history or replace the work I continued doing in talk therapy. For me, it became another valuable part of that work. And I never really left this practice. I continue going to the Gilbert clinic for monthly vitamin IV infusions. During my recovery from surgery, the team adjusted my infusions based on what my body was going through. Years later, I am still met with the same compassion and genuine care. I have also returned periodically for ketamine boosters when I felt I needed additional support. What amazes me is how that frequency has changed. During my first year, I returned approximately every three months. The following year, approximately every six months. Now, in my third year, I have gone an entire year between treatments. That means something to me. Today, I can meet difficult experiences differently. I am better able to recognize what I am feeling, witness it, work through it, and allow it to move instead of carrying it indefinitely. Along with talk therapy and the work I have continued doing in my own life, the care I received here has been an important part of that change. At 50 years old, I feel as though I have found my voice in a way I never had before. This practice has also been there through grief and other difficult seasons of my life. Sometimes the greatest gift a healthcare provider can give is not simply treatment. It is the experience of being treated like a human being while receiving it. That is what this team has consistently given me. I work in healthcare myself, and I understand how much it matters when people genuinely care about the community they serve. You can feel that here. Almost three years after my first appointment, I can look back and understand how meaningful that first phone call, those six initial treatments, and all the care that followed have been in my life.
